In this period, rare metals were reserved only for the strategic military industry, lighters were then made of lower quality materials. To keep Zippo lighters from corroding, they were given a protective anti-corrosion coating called Black Crackle, which was cured in a high-temperature oven after application. This created an interesting rough grainy effect on the surface. The 26075 Black Crackle™ Lighter replicates this historic protective coating, but is now manufactured to the highest quality according to today's quality requirements.
